Cabo San Lucas

Posted by Mutual-Funds | Hotel Review | Monday 6 July 2009 10:55 pm

Cabo San Lucas is one of the most popular tourist destinations in M?xico. It is located in the State of Baja California Sur at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, about one thousand miles south of San Diego, California. It is 22 miles southwest of the Los Cabos International Airport and 18 miles west of Jose del Cabo.

Cabo San Lucas has a very interesting history. It was previously named Santa Cruz by Hernan Cortez in 1573 and La Paz by Sebastian Vizcaino in 1596. It started out as a place where travelers such as Cortez and Vizcaino wanted to occupy because of the lure of its gold and pearls. Not much gold and pearls were found, however, but many unfriendly Indians. For a long time, the place just served as a channel from Luzon, Philippines to Acapulco, Spain, where traders transported silk, spices, gold and silver. Pirates were rampant at that time and the Spanish authorities were not happy that the Dutch, English and Russians were taking the riches of this new world, which was by then called California. The Spanish ordered the Jesuits to resettle the Indians in California so the peninsula would not be open to anybody else. The Indians were not happy with the fathers? teachings, and in 1734, drove out the spiritual leaders. For hundreds of years, nothing very eventful happened in California until the 1840?s during the American-Mexican War.

Since there were no gold, silver, oil and other natural resources, the Americans decided to relinquish Baja, California to the Mexicans. Soon after World War II, rich and powerful people trooped to this place with very good weather. There were no roads at that time and they went there via water or air. The place became very exclusive to the likes of Bing Crosby, Phil Harris, Desi Arnaz, and The Duke. In, 1948 they collated their money to build the Las Cruces Hotel on the East Cape. In the years that followed, more hotels were built and a highway was built in 1794. In 1986, the airport was expanded to accommodate more tourists. Soon, more people were able to visit the tourist destination where fishing tournaments are held.

Cabo San Lucas to this day remains to be one of the hottest tourist destinations. Golf courses have been added to its attractions. The ladies will enjoy lounging around the pristine beach and shopping for unique finds. The children will love swimming and snorkeling. The adventurers can try jet skiing, bungee jumping, parasailing and kayaking. Restaurants and clubs boast of great food and a wide array of drinks. It is truly a paradise everyone will love to visit.

Vacation Giveaway Scams

Posted by Mutual-Funds | Hotel Review | Monday 6 July 2009 6:54 pm

The scam is when you call the number, you soon find out that you have to purchase another vacation package or pay some overpriced service charge. These fees can be anywhere in the ballpark of $200 to $600. All you will receive is a travel package describing your vacation with many restrictions on when you can take your trip. You will get an expiration date that is almost impossible to stay within, because your preferred travel dates will most likely be unavailable. You can expect additional charges for booking your reservations, which can range anywhere from $50 to $100 per booking. If you have complaints they will offer you an upgraded plan for an additional fee.

If you are one the few people, who do receive a vacation package, you can expect to receive low class accommodations. Please be aware that most of these scams do come from the southeastern part of Florida and these ?vacation offers? may be an offer for you to pay $200 or more. It?s not a free vacation. They may sound enticing but keep in mind businesses can?t stay afloat selling goods or services for less than they really cost.

If you have been a victim of this fraud, you can file complaint with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service @ http://www.800helpfla.com/ccform.html

The Museum of the History of Barcelona has all you need to know about Barcelona?s history and its popular traditions that are exhibited on three floors. If you?re a history fanatic, like me, this is not one you want to pass by.

Sagrada Familia, one of Antoni Gaudi?s greatest creations, is the most visited attraction, with 2,000,000 visitors each year. The giant temple has been under construction since 1882. The museum you find inside gives the details of the development and offers information about the Sagrada Familia. Most of the tourists who?ve seen the Sagrada Familia have loved the architecture and design of this giant temple.

Attractions for Kids

Do you have little ones with you who are dire need for something ?cool? or ?fun?? L’ Aquarium de Barcelona, or The Barcelona Aquarium, will most certainly fit into those categories. It is the most popular attraction for kids and young ones. The enormous tank is filled with sea creatures that you can find almost anywhere in the world. You can even swim with the sharks! The giant aquarium is located at Port Vell, or Barcelona Port Area.

Right next door to the Aquarium is the IMAX Port Vell Cinema, a large-format theater, which attracts about 1 million visitors each year and is open year-round. This IMAX Cinema was the first integral movie theatre ever built, which means that you can enjoy not one, not two, but three different projections: IMAX, 3D, or Omnimax. The kids can choose to watch 3D films including ones about sharks or space. Another popular attraction for the little ones, that you may also enjoy, is the Barcelona Zoo. The zoo has a wide variety of animals including the giant anteater, Siamang, and the Indian Elephant. The zoo also has restaurants, shops, ponies, electric cars, and a picnic area. This promises to be a lot of fun for the entire family.

Beaches in Barcelona

Barcelona has 6 beaches, just for you. All of their beaches offer drinks and ice cream, children?s games, lifeguards, hammocks, telephones, and sport areas. Barceloneta Beach, one of Barcelona?s most popular beaches, also has a restaurant and canoes available. Mar Bella Beach, another beach in Barcelona, has an aquatic motorbike that you may use if you choose.

The Magic Fountain of Montjuic should not be missed. The fountain is a light, color, water, and music display that is free to the audience. It is highly recommended to see and is enjoyable for tourists of all ages.

As you can see, Barcelona is a city that has much to offer, but whether you are here for business or pleasure, be sure to try and check some of these wondrous places that can only be found in, well, Barcelona!

Parador Carmona

Posted by Mutual-Funds | Hotel Review | Monday 6 July 2009 6:50 am

The Parador Carmona played a big part in one of Spain’s interesting historical epochs. King Pedro the Cruel (known as Pedro The Just by some) built this fortified pleasure palace during his contested reign. He was later killed in a fight with his illegitimate brother, who was contesting the throne.

Pedro, who once said, A single loaf of bread would be enough to fill the bellies of all those who are loyal to me, has this castle built next to the ruins of an older Moorish fortress – to house his favorite consort and their daughter. He hired the same Moorish master builders who had built the Alcazar in Sevilla. They achieved a pleasing mix of Gothic and Moorish styles. Later kings and queens appreciated the ambience of the place and stayed here – including Ferdinand and Isabella.

The Parador Carmona is located on the highest hill in the area and commands panoramic views stretching for endless miles out over the plains below. The oldest parts of the building date to the 12th and 13th centuries during the times of Moorish occupation. This really is a sumptuous place to stay. It is peaceful and has one of the most elegant patios you’ll ever encounter.

You’ll enter via the Mudejar courtyard with its gurgling fountain, columns, arches, and Cuenca tiles. A more captivating courtyard you’d be hard-pressed to find. The Parador has inlaid walls and ceilings. In the many halls of the castle, hang medieval swords, banners, and other antiquities of a bygone era. The bedrooms are all large and have wonderful views to the plains of the river Corbones. Your accomodations will be filled with the unique light of Andalucia and fitted-out in fine classical decoration.

Interesting nearby excursions from Parador Carmona:

- ?Carmona is a very interesting town that provides the visitor with a chance to explore both Roman and Almohad (Moorish) ruins as well as an appealing old town.

Interesting day trips from the Carmona Parador include:

This city is perfectly situated to serve as a base for day trips.

- Sevilla is one-of-a-kind and not to be missed. Many travelers return again and again.

- Cordoba and its awe-inspiring Mezquita and beautiful flower-filled patios.

- Drive out to typical Andalusian towns like Marchena, Utrera, Osuna and others.

There is no place that embodies the feeling of Andalucia more than the Parador at Carmona. Come here and drink in the romance and sweetness of another age. You won’t want to ever leave!

When making a reservation at your Ideal Holiday destination is to be sure to check out the facilities on offer from the hotel.

Protection for the head is best if the child wears a cap or hat. Sometimes parents struggle to get the kids to wear head wear but if you make the first day of your holiday a fun spree shopping event and let the kiddies choose for themselves – you may find that their hand picked holiday hat or cap will never be off the head and in some cases even when they go to bed.

Cancun Mexico A Little Something For Everyone

Posted by Mutual-Funds | Hotel Review | Sunday 5 July 2009 6:54 pm

A sleepy island area in the 1970s, Cancun has been transformed into a mega tourist destination. Located on the Caribbean side of Mexico, this resort area has something for everyone.

Cancun

Make no mistake, Cancun is a very tourist friendly destination. Located on the Yucatan peninsula, Cancun is populated with mega resorts and over 20,000 hotel rooms. The economy is based on tourism and the people go out of their way to show tourists a good time.

Cancun proper is actually two distinct areas. Cancun City is located on the mainland and Cancun Island is just off the coast. The island is the stuff of legend.

Cancun Island the classic example of Caribbean beach paradise. Incredibly blue water laps slowly onto insanely white beaches. Light breezes roll in off the water as you lounge on a beach chair and contemplate important things like what you will eat for lunch.

One of the slight downsides of Cancun involves beachfront hotels. They tend to be a bit possessive about the sand in front of them. Put another way, you better be staying at the hotel if you intend to plop down in front of it. Hey, it can?t all be great!

Getting To Cancun

As with any mega resort area, getting to Cancun is very easy. Most major airlines fly into Cancun City and the airport is very modern. You are required to have a passport and must fill out a tourist card at customs. The customs agents are easy going and I?ve never heard of anyone having any problems with them.

If you want to experience a beach vacation in Mexico, you can do worse than Cancun. You will not get much feel for the local culture, but you will definitely enjoy yourself.

Rajasthan India An Ultimate Tourism Experience

Posted by Mutual-Funds | Hotel Review | Sunday 5 July 2009 2:53 pm

Rajasthan is the one of the most attractive destinations in India for both domestic and International tourists. About 6 million people visit the State every year of which 9% are foreign tourists. On an average a domestic tourist spends Rs. 400 per day and an Iternational tourist spends Rs. 800 a day (M/s. A. F. Ferguson & Company). Rajasthan being poorly endowed in terms of water availability depend on the non-farm sector to develop its economy and improve the quality of life of its people. Hence the development of tourism has great relevance.

Amazing legends of heroism and romance still resound from its equally amazing architecture, that still stands to narrate its tale of a bygone era. The magic of Rajasthan is unequalled in the world for its heritage, culture, safaris, sand dunes and lush green forests with its wildlife. Rajasthan is often expressed as huge open-air museum with relic so well preserved for the travellers and the curious of the day. It is action-packed with outdoors too; take a safari on horses, camels, elephants or even jeeps with the Aravalis – India’s oldest mountain range in the backdrop, or caress your eyes on the sloppy sand dunes, or trail a tiger or just watch birds on wetland. Or you can choose to pamper yourself in the lavish heritage properties. Rajasthan has something for everyone, just choose your activity.

The magic of Rajasthan is unparallel in the world for its heritage, culture, safaris and sand dunes. Rajasthan is the land of Kings. With liberalization of the economy the role of the private sector in tourism is expected to grow manifold. The effort is to provide a conductive environment to increase private sector investment in the various joint sector. Some facilities are best developed wholly in the private sector, The effort of the Government of Rajasthan has been to create an investor and market friendly environment. This effort is most manifest in service sector activities like tourism.

As a part of the government effort to make a major thrust in improving the quality of the product and increasing the flow of tourists to the state, a series of measures have been attempted which should logically culminate in evolution of an investment plan for tourism which identifies areas in which investment is expected to come in the Public Sector, Joint Sector and Private Sector.

One of the top destinations in the City of Baltimore is the Baltimore Inner Harbor. It has been one of the major seaports in the United States since the 1700s, and a notable example of urban renewal, having slowly transformed into a cultural center of the City in the 1970s. The city’s Inner Harbor area covers 97 hectares (240 acres) at the northwest end of Baltimore Harbor. It was renovated in 1980 and is a focal point for visitors, with many sightseeing locations. It is close to Little Italy on one side and historic Federal Hill on the other. There is a wide array of things to do at the Baltimore Inner Harbor, including waterfront shopping, dining, and various forms of entertainment. The Inner Harbor features 12 restaurants, 45 eateries, and over 100 shops, including a Maryland institution: Thrasher’s French fries.

Located near the Inner Harbor is the Peabody campus. Close to the Federal Hill, the recently expanded Maryland Science Center features an IMAX Theater and interactive exhibits. The Gallery is adjoining to the Harborplace, and is a mall featuring more shops and a food court. Another attraction, open year-round, is the USS Constellation, which is a Civil War battleship with a permanent home at Harborplace. The summer months are a colorful treat, when tall ships throughout the world camp at harborside with colorful flags and regalia, and invite the public in for tours.

Next to the water taxi stand and seasonal paddleboat rentals, one can visit Baltimore’s World Trade Center for an expansive view of the city before heading into the highly acclaimed National Aquarium. Close by is Port Discovery, an interactive museum for kids. The aquarium has in its vicinity two restaurants, the Hard Rock Cafe and the ESPN Zone.
