Posted by Mutual-Funds | Hotel Review | Friday 31 July 2009 10:54 pm

Nice is the biggest city of the French Azure Coast with its population of about 340 thousands. Nice airport is on of the largest in the whole France. Few words about Nice history ? the city was founded in V century BC and was named after the goddess of victory ? Nika. In XIX century nice became a very popular resort for the European elite. In this period the most impressive architectural masterpieces were built ? palaces, luxury villas and boulevards. Nice was especially fashionable for the winter rest, when in all other Europe it was very cold.

Nowadays a lot of this chic atmosphere has saved, and Nice is still one of the best French resorts.

Modern Nice looks like some financial and commercial center, and to spend holidays there costs a little cheaper than in neighboring resorts of Azure Coast. Due to airport and direct train Paris-Nice, the city is the first resort, visitors see on Azure Coast.

The most famous attraction in Nice is Promenade des Anglais with its legendary Negresco hotel. Promenade des Anglais is a wide boulevard 6 kilometers long. It?s planted with palms and flowers and is the most popular place for walks. On the East Promenade des Anglais turns into the quai des Etats-Unis with the best Nice restaurants. Don?t miss the chance to taste the special dish ? fish soup.

Nice strikes with the cozy narrow streets of the old city, greenery of the parks, fountains on the squares and the art treasures of Nice museums. Nice is impossible to imagine without flowers, fruits and vegetables market Cours Saleya working in the morning. The market is surrounded by the restaurants and cafes.

The ancient cemetery, the largest in France the forth largest in Europe attracts a lot of visitors due to its magnificent monuments.

Among other places to see in Nice are Opera, built in 1885, Saint-Reparate church of XVII century, Cesu church ? a perfect sample of neoclassical style, Justice Palace established in the end of the XIX century.

Mediterranean resort, Nice is well known for its beaches. Mostly they are pebbly, warm and clean, but beginning with the Antibe cape they become sandy. It?s common not to acquire a tan in Nice but to boast of the sun tan you?ve already had. It?s a prestigious place to show off for the rich (and not very) people.

Nice has approximately 300 sunny days a year. The combination of the rich history, soft climate, diverse nature and highly developed infrastructure places Nice on the top of the list of the best resorts.

Hotel Safety Tips You Should Have In Mind On A Holiday

Posted by Mutual-Funds | Hotel Review | Friday 31 July 2009 6:54 pm

If you travel a lot or even if you travel only during vacation time, you should always pay attention to your valuable assets inside the hotel and outside it. Getting something stolen like your purse, your wallet or your expensive watch will surely ruin your vacation. Burglars aren?t your only worry; dangerous strangers should be avoided too. Hotels may give you an impression of safety, but they have so many different guests that the hotel?s staff can?t keep an eye on everyone. Therefore, you are the only one who is best taking care of yourself. Here are some safety tips to avoid getting unpleasant memories during your travels.

The thing you should do all the time is to keep your room?s door locked. Lock it even if you are inside the room and also put the security chain. Make sure you have locked the door whenever you are leaving the room. You can do this by trying the door to see if it is perfectly closed and locked. It may look a bit paranoid, but the lock might be broken and your room would be vulnerable to any nosy intruder who would try the door knob.

If there is someone knocking on the door, look through the view port first to check on that person. If you don?t know that person, don?t open the door. Don?t trust people claiming they are part of the hotel staff if you don?t expect any visits from the hotel?s personnel. Check with the reception to make sure that person is an employee of the hotel. If you still don?t trust that person, you could keep the security chain on while carrying on the conversation.

The windows are also important. Make sure they are closed and locked whenever you leave the room.

Always use the hotel?s main entrance no matter if it?s day or night. It is safer to use facilities that are crowded with guests and hotel?s staff. Stay away from dark, remote hallways or rooms.

Jewellery represents the item that is most stolen from hotel rooms. Put all your valuables into the safe which most hotel rooms are equipped with. If your room doesn?t have a safe, you can use the hotel?s safe or locked storage facilities. And don?t live your valuable things scattered around your room in anyone?s sight.

All these tips may sound a bit paranoid, but keep in mind that being vigilant will save you from a lot of trouble. So whenever you are travelling, always pay attention to these tips and your vacation will not be ruined from an unfortunate burglary incident.

Borrego Springs Resort In Borrego Springs

Posted by Mutual-Funds | Hotel Review | Friday 31 July 2009 2:54 pm

Borrego Springs is a small town in the middle of the Anza Borrego Desert State Park. Everyone there is proud that it is the largest state park in the US. The small town is located in a desert valley thus you can imagine how hot it can get during the summer. In fact, when looking over places to stay and eat, many mention that they are closed during the summer. I don’t blame them. We planned a one night stay a few weeks in advance. Borrego Springs Resort seemed the choice that combined reasonable prices and solid comfort so we went there ….

We made our way into town from Julian. Once on Borrego Springs road you would imagine that there would be a sign directing you to the resort. Well, no. Luckily, we spotted Tilting T drive as we sped down the road and made a quick turn. After a short drive we arrived at the resort and checked in. The resort was clean and basic. Our room was quite large. It had everyting we needed apart from a safe. The bathroom was well furnished. The bed was very comfortable. They only had very large pillows making it difficut to sleep if you are used to small pillows. The view outside the room displayed the desert in all its autumn beauty. The weather was perfect during our stay which helped. In the evening we spent some time at the pool. The pool was also very basic, not really resorty, but served its purpose. A full golf course is adjacent to the property but we did not take advantage of that. In the morning, continental breakfast was included. It was not very good. The coffee was bad. The view from the Arches restaurant though, where breakfast is served is absolutely magnificent. Service was quite solid.

All in all, for the price, this was a pretty good place to stay. When visiting Borrego Springs again, we would strongly consider staying here again. Note: The web site for the resort is very well done and looks much better than the actual place.

A Guide To Cozumel Beaches

Posted by Mutual-Funds | Hotel Review | Friday 31 July 2009 2:54 am

Some of the prettiest beaches in the world circle the island of Cozumel. They vary from long, treeless sandy stretches of white sand to isolated coves and rocky shores. There are two sides to the island ? the leeward (western) side where the coast is sheltered from storms by the proximity of the mainland and the windward (eastern) side. The beaches on the windward side require a bit more of an effort to reach, but if you make the trip, you?ll be rewarded by some of the most beautiful, serene beaches in the world.

On the leeward side, the best beaches can be found in the southern half of the island. Most of the beaches along the northern hotel strip have rocky shores with little sand. Heading southward, the first beach of note is Nachi-Cocom in front of the Casa del Mar Hotel. Open to everyone, there you?ll find a Mexican restaurant, lounge chairs and beach umbrellas. Further on you?ll find Playa Corona, a relatively quiet beach with snorkeling equipment and some fabulous underwater fauna to explore. Probably the most crowded beach on the island is the Playa San Francisco. Popular with cruise ship passengers who have limited time, the beach offers a varied sampling of Cozumel without having to venture inland. There is usually live music, a collection of locals selling arts and crafts, a choice of moderately priced restaurants, gift and souvenir shops and an ample amount of recreational equipment for rent. Divers use Playa San Francisco as their jumping off points to San Francisco reef and the Santa Rosa wall offshore. For a quieter but just as lovely setting, head just a bit farther south to the beach at Palancar with it?s view of the Palancar Reef, water sports center and bar-caf?.

On the windward side of the island there are numerous narrow, powdery beaches and deserted rocky coves. Swimming on this side of the island is not encouraged due to the treacherous undertow that can sweep you out to sea in minutes. But the views and solitude of the area, and the opportunity for some truly world class sunbathing are unequaled by sites on the western side. Playa Bush is known for it?s caf? serving ice cold beer and a beach that offers up treasures from the sea that have washed up during the night. Punta Chiqueros called Playa Bonita by the locals is known as one of the swimming beaches on this side of the island due to it?s fine sand, clear water and moderate waves. It is also a campground of unmatched beauty for those who like to vacation in the great outdoors. For the surfing crowd, there is Punta Morena with a pounding surf and primitive rooms on the beach for a mere $10 per night. At Chen Rio, another camping spot, soldiers patrol the beach stopping tourists from poaching turtle eggs that are protected by law. For the serious explorer, Punta Molas, beyond where the paved road ends, offers unspoiled beach beauty for sunbathing and communing with nature. Whatever your beach desires, they can be completely fulfilled at Cozumel!
